Change is one of those things we love to talk about but often avoid actually doing. And here’s why: you’ve been you for a long time.
How old you are now, minus the day you were born, is how long your “system” has been running. All those years of experiences, choices, habits, and lessons have created your programming - the way you see the world, the way you respond to it, and the way you show up in it.
By around age 35, your inner “hardware” is pretty much built. Your beliefs, attitudes, and habits become your operating system. Dr. Joe Dispenza calls this your personality, which shapes your personal reality.
And just like a computer, you’ve got layers of files and programs. Some are light and easy to find - happiness, joy, peace. Others are buried deep in the system - anger, shame, abandonment, betrayal. And sometimes? A file you thought was deleted is still running in the background, slowing everything down.
This is why change doesn’t happen overnight. Your system has years of programming, and unpacking it takes patience, honesty, and courage.
Making change means:
Unlearning old patterns that no longer serve you.
Facing uncomfortable files you’d rather ignore.
Reorganizing your energy so it aligns with who you’re becoming.
That’s why it feels messy at times. It’s like digging through corrupted files, deciding which to delete, which to restore, and which to rewrite into a new version of yourself.
Change isn’t about flipping a switch. It’s a process.
Here’s the thing: your higher soul craves growth. If you don’t willingly make changes, your soul will find a way to shake things up for you. And usually? That doesn’t feel very good.
This is why staying stuck isn’t really an option. Sooner or later, something inside you (or around you) will demand an upgrade.
Yes, change feels scary - because it’s the unknown. I get it. I don’t love it at the beginning either. But once you move through it, you see why it was necessary. The benefits of change only reveal themselves after the dust settles.
Let me be blunt, because sugar-coating doesn’t help:
Change takes time. It took years to become you, and it won’t take five minutes to “un-become” you.
Change takes action. No one else can do the work for you.
Change takes compassion. You need kindness for yourself while going through it.
At the end of the day, you have to want a new reality more than you want to stay in the old one. That’s the fire that fuels transformation.
So no, it’s not easy. But yes, it’s absolutely possible. You can rise like the phoenix from your own ashes. You just have to want it enough to take the first step.
